To his Excellency Archibald
Roane Governor of the State
of Tennessee

Whereas Henry Beeler at
November Term 1801 of the Supe=
rior court of Law for the District
of Mero was found guilty of Horse
stealing upon an indictment
the copy whereof is here with trans
mitted to your Excellency. Now
we the first twelve underwritten
being the Jury who found the
said Henry Beeler guilty, together
with others subscribers who were
present at the trial of said In=
dictment do hereby earnestly
recommend the said Henry Beel=
er to the mercy of your exc=
ellency concieving [sic] him to
be a fit object thereof from
his youth and the weakness
of his understanding. We there
fore pray your Excellency to
grant a pardon to the siad
Henry Beeler, for the said crime
of Horse stelaing. and your peti=
tioners will ever pray &c
