Sir

A favourable opportunity having presented
accidenteally
presenting itself for the immediate
Conveyance of a Communication to your Excellency,
I do myself the honor, of informing your Excellency
that your last dispatches forwarded to my predecessor
Governor Blount respecting a waggon road being
opened cut through the Western Mountains, was laid before
the General Assembly, but that body being much eng
=aged at the last sess in business of an Great importance
at the time; and some obsticles appearing embarrasments being in the
way, the legislature ha
not easily surmounted: The
legislature duly proceeded to Act as in the manner you will
discover by the Resolve, I have herein inclosed. for
Nevertheless I have the pleasure to inform you
that the good Citizens of this State, have that road
conceived themselves so much interested in haveing
a waggon of the road, through the Mountains, that they
have liberally contributed in such a manner ^so as to
