Sir

The runing [sic] of the line makes Causes much uneasiness
Among the frontier inhabitants. The Idea of
removing from the land that they have
long since paid the state for, and obtained
Titles in a legal form as they have been
taught led to believe, Occasion numerous compl
=aints. I wish it was possible that there
could be some steps taken to surmount this
the difficulties that I fear will be occasioned
by runing [sic] this line. I am fully in the opinion
and I am confident, that was proper exertions
made with the indians, that they would
have no objections to leting [sic] the line go as
from the Chilhowee Mountain
down the tennessee as low as the mouth of
Clinch river; such a line would include all
the settlers, except those in powels valley,
and evenly those I am of opinion the
indians would not wish to remove,
