Plumb Grove July 8th 1797
Brothers
It is with very Great concern I have
been informed that some of your people have
again done some mischeif [sic] by wounding ^of a man
near unto Clinch River ^one of our peaceable Citizens station - I cant say more to you ^then
I have frequently done in advising of you to keep
Your people at peace, and informing you
the distruction [sic] it would bring on your nation
should a war again take place - I now
demand ^& require of you ^to make enquiry, and should the aggression be committed by one of your people that you immeadiately either
punish the person your selves, or deliver him up to
to the government, to be dealt with as the law directs,
in order that such aggressors may be punished
agreably [sic] to ^the treaty you have entered into with the United
