Service attendance ^at the second meeting if it should ^it be the case, permit me sir to
sollicit [sic] your influence interest to have some person nominated
who may be capable will may be calculated to answer the purpose this very
desireable object
and for such a purpose ^I beg leave suffer me to
recommend to your not [y?] General James Robertson of
this State, his long acquaintance ^& influences with the Cherokees, as also
his influence
together with his [?] knowledge of the manner in which business is to be done transacted Would enable the him with the other Gentlemen
in my opinion to accomplish the object with much more conveniance [sic] ^& celerity [sic]
then ^may may be expected in the present order of things; was there some person a commissioner a proper character
or two, if possible ^to be appointed out in this State, the ^much more likely & sure
would be their ^the Success ^and of which I should have little doubt (- on the other hand [for?] ease of failure, much
less would be the clamour and discontents of the people,

I flatter myself my observation will readily suggest themselves
The present Crisis, is a peculiar one,
to you, and assure yourself sir, that nothing but the
critical situation of the business ^& times would have induced me
to have taken the liberty, of making this ^such remarks and application, as I
for it [was?] ^it my sincere desire and wishes ^are that the people may become
intirely [sic] convinced of the good disposition of the Government towards
them, and in no instance can it be done better, then by the
Success of the now pending treaty. - James Colbert & his
brother half breed Chickasaws, was with me a ^few days or two past,
and who informed him, that the Spainards [sic] have sent ^war talks to into the creek
and choctaw nations ^in behalf of the French that the creeks readily were recd the
talks, and also the lower Choctaws- the uper [sic] Choctaws ^part of the nation
