that have been committed of a very recent date in the time
of profound peace, and some of them murder by their
principal leaders - I am sincerely disposed to obliviate
^on my part all enormities that have taken place between the Citizens been committed by the Cherokees
of tennessee, & the Cherokeesbefore the last f hoping
it is the wish of that nation to be ^become entirely ^friendly and pacific; but
on the other hand, should the nation authorize any
murders to be committed upon any of our ^good & innocent Citizens; that I
Shall ^then take the most ready & early method, to of bringing
them to a sense of their duty - I am ^much pleased to hear
that Mrs Williams's child, is to be restored to the mother,
it has been a long time detained contrary to their the engag-
ments & promisses in their treaty with the United
States - say nothing about the baseness & inhumanity of so cruel and act -I request you will also be [pleased?] to let them know that
