John Sevier esq

Sir:

A few days ago Ihad the honor
to receive your much esteemed favr of the 15th
ult. for which be pleased to accept my thanks -

This will be handed you by my Friend Capt
Edwd Allen
who sets out shortly to view the
Cumbd country (& as you have been pleased to give
me permission) I take the liberty to request your
fr[ien]dly services &c to him - He is a worthy re-
spectable man & possesses considerable property
in this neighborhood, but having a pretty large
family of children, he thinks he can more
competently provide for them in that Land of Promise
I have been long concern;d in Trade & am now
busily employ'd in winding up my affairs -
