Dear Seveir [sic]

In my last by Mr Shelton I informed
you that several of our valuable Citizens
were about to leave their Natal State to
settle in your land of milk & honey. this
you will find verified by the number of
letters I shall write by my friends who
wish an introduction to your State -
Mr. Emmerson the bearer of this is a
young Gentlemen of the Law who has
practiced here with some success but
wishing to better his fortune having taken
to himself a wife who will aid him
in increasing a stock which he wishes
to provide for has determined ^him to leave
his connections & settle in the western
Country. to your state I have advisd [sic] him-
to your good offices I recommend him
assuring you that his character is fair
his connections respectable and in my
opinion his talents so good that he will
