you have so politely acknowledged, numerous
settlements have been made on the border
of the Tennessee; but the persons names I can not
collect. Since the receipt of your letters, I have received
advice, from the Secretary of War, that commissioners
our appointed to run the line agreeably
to your wish to commence first of April.

By the same runner who brought your
letters, I received the first information respecting
the Indians killed on the head of Kentucky
river as mentioned in your favour of
the10th February, which I received only
two days since. I communicated yours
respecting the horses & property, lost on
Cumberland Road, to the chiefs of every
town through which I passed. They
reprobate the conduct of their foolish
people & give me fair promises that
the horses should be returned. Three of
