Knoxville April 30th 1799 -

Sir

By virtue of an act of the General As-
sembly of the State of No Carolina, accompanied with
a resolution of the same, relative to the office of Mar-
tin Armstrong Esquire
, we the undersigned have
been appointed by his Excellency, the Governor of No Ca=
rolina, to lay before your Excellency sundry com-
munications and dispatches, and having arrived in
Town late last evening, now wait at Mr So[page damaged]
villis Ordinary, for a convenient and proper ho[page damaged]
of visiting your excellency on the business aforesaid
and which we hope you will notify us of by
appointing such time as will be most conveni-
ent and suitable.
