To the Treasurer of
Miro district

(Duplicate)

Our legislature at their last session passed a resolution,
that two agents should attend on behalf of the state of Tennessee the approa-
ching treaty to be held with the Cherokees, for which purpose Brigadr Genl
James Robertson
and the Governor of the state were ^the persons appointed for the
purpose -. In order to carry into effect, and avail the agents of every
advantage they may be able to render the state on so interesting [page damaged - and?]
important occasion, it is essentially expedient, that they in the [damage]
place be furnished with adequate funds to procure such supp[damage]
purpose as will be absolutely and indispensably necessary. I need not [damage]
this occasion, as your own knowledge of the business, and the
importancy it may be of to the state of Tennessee, will suffice [damage- to?]
suggest the propriety of my observations - Itherefore request you [damage- at your?]
pleasure to advance unto Genl James Robertson the sum of four [damage]
dollars, for the [?] of the treaty aforesaid, and the General [damage]
to you for the same: this sum is as low as on any reasonable ca[damage]
We can suppose will by any means answer a temporary purpose, [damage- it?]
is earnestly requested you will have the goodness to accommodate us [damage- that? the?]
sum, and there can remain no doubt the legislature will readily [damage]
you for the same in your public accounts - It will be highly impat[damage]
informed as soon as convenient what may be the expected result on the on[damage]
will therefore please write me on the first opportunity - I am &c
