Knoxville June 27th. 1805.

Sir

John Stewart who has lately been demanded by your
Excellency as a fugitive from the Justice of the state over which
you preside, has been arrested and is now in custody of the
Sheriff of Sumner County - I have instructed the Sheriff
to deliver him to such person as may be authorised to
receive and conduct him to Kentucky, and you will be
pleased to appoint a person for that purpose, at as early
a day as may be convenient.~
