When I came here I can assure you that
such a Jealousy did exist: And when the
Governor shewed me your memorial to
day, he intimatd such an apprehension,
and observed, that he thought it would be
time enough for Tennessee to press such a
Claim upon Congress after the claims arising
under this State should have been made good

I observed to him that whatever adjust=
=ments might take place, between the
U. States and Tennessee, relative to the claim
of the latter, he might be assured that Ten=
=nessee would be faithful to the contract
Contained in the Cession Act, and of course
would not attempt to dispose of lands until
the claims under this state were made good.

He observed that Mr Franklin the
Senator had written him for information
upon the subject of your memorial

What he may write Mr Franklin I
know not, but you may Judge from
what has been said that the Cooperation
