Raleigh January 8h 1804
Dear Sir
Having been much engaged since
being here it has not been in my power
to state particularly a desire of corresponding
occasionally with you, at this time -
The Louisiana business, together with our
own domestic concerns, mark it as a
Congressional period, unusually interest=
=ing to our state - Before our assembly
rose they passed a resolution that the
Governor should call the Legislature
on the land business, when the Agent
at this place shall have made his report
Knowing the Great a^nxiety of the people
of our state, on the subject of Getting
Grants, and believing that the Legislature
will at their spring extra Session [?]
the Issuying of Grants, I feel ^a strong
desire that no doubts may exist
respecting the Grants when they shall
be issued -
