By the last mail I had Written your
Excellency that my private affairs having
been much deranged by a long Course
of sickness and absence from business, I
should be obliged to attend the Sup^r Court
at Nashville on the 2^d Monday in May

Necessity will oblige me to do this
else I am a ruined man, or vastly
Injured - under these circumstances it
is sincerely hoped that the Legislature
will be satisfied with my report without
personal attendance for it will be im=
=practicable for me to attend the assembly
during the first week in may and be
at Nashville on the second Monday

The business of collecting, arranging,
And copying the Warrants in Carters
Office is a work of extent and labour

It is perceived that there are more
than 500 cases of Grants having issued
on Carters Warrants, where Grants had
previously issued on the same numbers -

The same practice it is believed has
obtained in Adairs office to an equal
extent in proportion to the number
of Warrants ~
