as to honor the Point point has not yet been
ascertained - the indisposition of M^rs. Wright will
prevent me from from attending at Knoxville on
the 25^th Ins^t, but in the mean time I request your
excellency will accept of this as my resignation to the
appointment of Adjutant General - But I wish
your Excellency to understand that I do not relinquish
this appointment from any fear arising in my
heart that I have conducted myself improperly
in any respect whatever relative to my duty [page damaged] Adjutant
