Craig has been raised in my neighborhood has
acted as a collecting officer a goodly portion of his
term & has been concerned in the mercantile business -
and as I have been living here for the last 40 years
(and has in place of a better one, been acting in
the caapasity [sic] of a Justice of the peace for the last -
30 yrs. from these circumstances. If you can con
fide in what I say you can be the mowable
to Judge whether of whether my oppertunities [sic] of knowing of
his fitness be good or not.

Your Broather [sic] ^Brice was a tmy house the other day in good
health he has been ^frequently in our little town M^t. Pleasant
for 2 yrs past. has generally made my house his home
some times stayed 2 o r 3 days with me and if I was as well
acquainted with you as I am with him I would have
known better how to have approached you.
at some leisure moment. If such you may ahve ^if you
would take the trouble to write me I can asure [sic] you that
the favor would be thankfully rc^d.
