The Grove West Northfield Cook Co. Ills School room Feb 6 " 1853

Dear Cousin Bob I have just got through with my lessons for today so I thought that it would be better for me to improve the time in writing. Netty has been out here to stay a week, she has just gone home day before yesterday She worked all the time while she stayed so that we did not see much of her over at our house. you know that she always stays at aunt Carrys lately when she comes. We all went down to the depot when she went home. Asa made Gracy think that the depot would bite her and he told her that she must speak very softly she was almost afraid to speak a bove her breath till she got there and found out that it would not bite her We had to wait at the depot more than an hour before the cars came, the sure was crowded as it could be and there was an Indian there too

We all went up to uncle Hirams yesterday to take Rose home for she was home sick. [Illegible] came down last night - with a cow to take to town to sell he had a pretty hard time to coming through the woods Asa had to get the horses and go after it for he could not bring it out of the woods this morni ng he started for town with it - Asa went as far as the plank road with him. Feb 7th 1853 I did not have time to finish my letter yesterday. School did not let out last night till five o'clock I think it is most to bad for us to have to stay so long in the afternoon. Yesterday it [illegible] all day and to day it is snowing I hope that it will continue to snow all day so that we shall have some sleighing, then it is so bad to walk in the muck. Have you been skating any this winter? Do you intend to go? we have not been but - three or four times sunday when went up to aunt Genias it was pretty good skating but we did not skate any one. The school is just as full as it can be now there are so many large tables in it.

Olivia is coming to school and she has got a table then the little Boyse and Kinder have a table and when you were here there was as many tables as could be conveniant first in the school house. They are running a lunch out here as far as the Point now. When Delia read your letter she did not say wither she would have want to have a [illegible] in our [illegible] stairs or not. We had a grand time snow balling the boys yester day. Charly Sherwin was going to cut-off Amasa head because he washed his face in snow. Feb 5^th 1853 I have not any lessons to get to day. Miss Boyden is writing to you I believe soon. She keeps school so late now that we do not have time to do any thing after school [illegible] they was ^had candles lited when I got home. How do you like Cleevland now? Do you like it as well as Buffalo? Do you find any insects now or don't you try to get any?

We do not see much of uncle Asa and he does not write very often we have not heard from him since Dawn went home, he must be very lone some with out her now. Yesterday [illegible] came back with the cow he would not sell it be cause he could not get what his father expected he would, he was almost [illegible] to death whe hen he got here. Amasa when ^went [illegible] way home with him this morning to help him drive it We have just got through our history and commenced another we have Frosts. Miss Boy den I think that she does not in tend to teach here any more then this quarter then we shall have to get another teacher. Good by Cousin Emma Bob PS pleas excuse the miss stakes.
