Asylum Friday Feb 24. 1854 Dear Bob Your cheerful and goodly greeting of the 20 - inst. is at hand - I am truly glad to hear from you again and am right well pleased to learn how well you are getting along with your studies. I thank you Bob, from the bottom of my heart for the kind advice you give me in regard to driving away. the "[Illegible] and devils [illegible]" that were once wont to annoy me - All has gone well with me since I last wrote you and I have been happier far than I ever hoped to be a month ago - I have finally made up my mind to meet manfully and hopefully - all that fate may have in store for me. You will be glad to learn that I was this morning regularly discharged Doct Gray has appointed Tuesday the 28th as the happy day on which I am to leave for Buffalo - I shall not stay longer than a week in that city as I shall hardly expect to hear

from you again before reaching home - where I am so very anxious to get that I must decline accepting the Doct - and Mr. Ellioll's kindly proffered hospitalities I commission you to deliver my hearty thanks to them for there kindness which I assure "you I gratefully appreciate. I have a letter from [illegible] blowing you up for not having written him from the tone of his epistle I imagine you and he have been at loggerheads of late. Night before last we had quite an exciting time here in consequence of one of the patients on this hall attempting to escape. Master Burger a young boy about 13 years old succeeded in escaping from his room at mid night= with the hall from whence he made his way into the attendants room whose purse and keys he stole - and then out for the R.R. depot where after a hot pursuit he was retaken. This same Burger is by all odds the most precocious youth I ever came across - it appears he was sent here to keep him out of mischief for he is certainly
