Dear Friend

Your letter came to hand
Some days a go and I have bene so
bissy that I have neglect to answer
it in regard to that read mouse
I caught two this Sumer for won
and skined them and stufed them
but the [illegible] eat them up
So I lost them; in regard
to those habits I hav [illegible]
never found than in the praries
all was find them in the woods or
[illegible] [illegible]. I never have seen
eney of there yongs wons, but
they bild there nest in a small
bush somthang simler to a birds
nest onley the nest is small -
and the hole is in the side I am
not very well acquainted with thare
badly; it has ben cold all this month
it is a snowing now the groun is wht
with snow times is hard money is

Action: Could not make out [illegible] words either. Much of the original letter contained misspellings and the transcription stays true to that. Changed "1858" to "1855" in line 1 but not sure of this as the next page does look like "1858".
