Cleveland Feb 23rd 1855
My Dear "Bob"-
I have intended every day for the
last month to write and thank you for your many
kind, & most welcome letters, but I am a miserable
correspondent, & it is now so long since I have
made the attempt to write to any one, that I al-
most feel as if I knew how to hold any pen.
I have tried many times to persuade Charley to
write, but he dislikes, it very much, & thinks his letters
are not worth reading. He is now very humble, & is
scarcely, able to walk about. He has not been well
all winter & for the last few weeks has grown thin,
& weak, and is very low spirited. I feel extremely
anxious about him, but hope he mite improve with

Action: Changed "[Churchland?]" to "Cleveland" in line 1. Could not decipher all [illegible] words but corrected a couple e.g. "winter" in line 13.
8/9/2023 Changed [illegible] words in lines 12 and 13 to "well" and "all" as per note below.
