Here I am in town with a pocket full of rocks in the proper acceptation of the expression - I have for some days been with Dr Blaney who is hunting up Iron ore which is found in great quantities near here. paid much attention to it. I am delighted with the prospects of collecting great things in Zoology & Botany.

If any letters have come for me send them here at once direct "Care of Dr S.S. Condon Jonesboro Union Co Ill.

I shall be here for a week or two and shall make it a sort of head quarters for a long time. -

See that my st Snakes get watered. If any very large & curious ones are collected let them be kept in the small cages or put into alcohol - Remember there is a stone jar with a wooden cover in the milk room for alcohol specimens

Be sure and send fine boquets to Mr B F Johnson at the Ill Central

(north end) R.R. Office in the Block of buildings opposite the Eddy's houses on Mich. Avenue. And Let a fine one be sent to Mrs Col Mason Better take some pains to do this Send to Johnson in your own names

This is a very healthy place so no fear of sickness - Cairo is a dirty hole & I dont like it, wo'nt stay there much Collect all the shells you can - get skins of robins mud hens rails blk birds & other commons birds I may not come home in some time as I cant get a free pass all the way to Chicago
