Dear Father.

I go to Cairo tomorrow will stay a day or two and then go north. I dont know yet whether I will go home then or work along up the stations for awhile.

I was at Makanda F[strikethrough] next station above here - Friday & Saturday. The Agent is a clever man & will do well I think there is a big farmer in his vicinity a fine man plows his land 10 inches deep he has got some great wheat &c I want to let him have a prize list (list of premiums offered by the Ag'l" Soc'y) and I wish you would send me several here A Post Office has been Established here[strikethrough] at this Station[underlined] So direct here. "Anna Union Co Ill". - I shall be here on my way north Wednesday

or Thursday - A Mr Bennet of this place has been very polite to me let me have his horse &c.
