16 Salem Marion and Mr Mills' House 1857 [circled] 33 Wednesday, June 21

Dear Father

I found I should be unable to get further north than Sandoval on saturday - having missed the cars from mistaking the time. Not feeling well I came here to stay over Sunday and on monday I had a rascally ague shake - I have been taking quinine & guess I'm "[illegible]" of the ague but I still feell badly - I shall go to Decatur to day - stay over night & to Bloomington ^{next day} - See Mr. Annez & get home as fast as possible where I'll stay some time

- I've had enough of Southern Ill for the present - I've seen Mr Webster & Ray Mr Mills family are very kind to me

- I have taken four doses 2 1/2 grs each of quinine in the last two days - I trust Ill not get a shake today.

On the cars nearly to Decatur I have got rid of the ague I think - stay at Decatur to night feel pretty well - but will be careful
