[written in pencil] (probably 1857)

The Grove Monday morning June 25

Dear Father

Got home Friday night. I am
clear of the ague - though Ive got my bowels
out of order - I shall stay at home about a
week - Will go to Springfield at an early
day -

Uncle Dolph is here - maybe mother
will let Alice & Cora go home with him
We are all pretty well -
Camack came to offer $50 as
damages for the road - Charlie
of course refused & told them to
go it &c &c.

Bob

Don't write to the girls in Buffalo till after
Saturday as Uncle Dolph wants to take
them by surprise - They will stop a night
& day or two nights perhaps with Dr Kirtland.
They will start from Chicago wednesday morning

MosquitoMike

the pencil note added at the top saying "probably 1857" is incorrect - this was written on June 25, 1855, which was indeed a Monday. He writes to his father that he is "clear of the ague" [likely malaria]
