Philada. 18 Jany 1856
Dear R:
Do not present the bill for 3.00 to Mrs. [illegible] - it is a mistake - I find that it ought to have been the name on the next line above her name in my book and am surprized that I did not observe it. - it is entirely an error - she owes nothing.
Both your letters with 30.00 are recd. for which I am much obliged - I wish it were in my power to do something for you here - you have been of so great service to me,
- I am sorry to hear of your continued illness - if you could make a trip south to Philada it would undoubtedly be of great service - how much does it cost? - or rather how much would it cost you to come from Chicago to Philada.? - when here you could live at my house -

- a change of air - though in the winter time, would cure you, I guess -
Enclosed I send the letter about the booming of the Prairie Cock - I lend it to you - or else you must write it out for our Academy - try to do it - it is highly interesting, containing information never published -
I know the Rev. Dr. Bachman very well - his address is
Rev. John Bachman D.D. Charleston. S.C.
- he is a minister, I think of the Lutheran Church and has been a long time at Charleston.
I am now writing for a cheap book something like Nuttall - dont know exactly when it will be printed.
very respectfully J. Cassin
