The Finch you sent is F. Savanarum Yellow Shouldered Finch - Abundant on the prairies - sings early in the morning Ze ze ze ze, chee chee, chick - Glad you have an egg for me. I never found a nest. I have not eggs of the "Bull-ox with a long nose" - glad to get some - Hope you can spare one of the short-eared Owl eggs - Hawk Owl Kenn - Some boys found a nest but the eggs come out of their pockets in small contributions - Sorry you and your sisters cant come this season to visit us, don't work too hard -
You need not send the beetles till I come for them - hope to have time to call on you - You are catching Millers like [illegible] - We [illegible, smeared] - got some splendid specimens - Exchange with

you - Sent a lot to Fitch - splendid Catacollas - Look sharp on the shade trees and in the woods for Catacollas - they stick close to the body of the tree and look like the bark -
I will try and come to Chicago when your Nat History Society has another meeting.
I have got LeConts Cicindella paper the plates are well executed, good monograph just what we needed.
I have read your description of Regina Kirtlandi Good - We have a large pet Scotophis vulpinis - drinks milk like smoke - knows what is good - feed him on tadpoles & milk -
Jenny gets on in music remarkably well reads the notes right off
Albert wishes to know whether you have the Papillio ajax abundant - here they are not in great numbers -

I hope the Doctor will be able to do duty at the next fair at Alton I shall try to attend - do you know what the tickets for R.R. from Chicago & back will be?
