Dear Bob

I've just time enough to scratch off a few lines to you. I can't spare time to study phrases and round my periods - "What we want, sir, is facts, sir, facts" - and those I shall give you.

To commence at the beginning then - [Illegible], your letter produced considerable of an effect upon me and judging from the state of mind I was in for the last few days - some thing was working - In fact the mountain was in labor and after feeling duly wicked, detestable, wretched, etc, etc, and acting as recklessly as possible (ask Charlie for proof of this) for some ten days, I conceived and brought forth - I trust, not a mouse, but a new determination to be "a good physician" - a somebody - and in accordance with this

determination I sat down and wrote off a "programme" for my daily guide and thus far (nearly sixteen hours) I have stuck to it admirably. I shall bring out a copy on Saturday -

Jam satis on that subject - We'll talk it over. I take the liberty of sending out a few tomatoes to Uncle Dresor - I don't beleive Charlie took any out with him. Tell Aunt Mary I have forgotten what kind of whalebone she wanted, but if not write right send it back and I'll have it changed

Cora's Cuttle fish bones you will please find accompanying this, as also a few pieces of music, which Alice would greatly oblige me by accepting. Dr Freer and wife will probably come out to The Grove next Saturday.

Dr Andrews has charge of the Hospital now, and I visit it with him every day. Capt Webster is mixed up with Kanzas. I send your pins, and love to all and every one at The Grove.

Isaac wants to send some Schnapps out to the Dr. but don't know how.

I say - Bob, I don't mean that I send the pins to "all and every one" etc - it's mere ly my love I allude to, some thing not as pointed nor as useful probably -

Good Bye, Bob! I long to hug you Your own Frank

Write if you get a chance - Monday. July 21st /56

I've just read this over - It's a d-l of a letter ain't it? I wish I hadn't read it.
