Chicago, Dec 26th 1856 Dear Aunt Aris, There is no doubt that your trouble is rheumatic. Dr Andrews [illegible] and that you take the following prescription
"Take Bicarbonate of soda 2 oz " " " potash 2. oz. " Dissolve them in a pint " of water (snow water) and " Take a tablespoonful 6 times " a day (every 4 hours) -------------------------------------------------- Take aqua ammonia four ounces add twice as much water. - with this wet a cloth [illegible] [illegible] square and wear it [crossed out][illegible][/crossed out] [inserted]near[/inserted] the skin over the region.
