Castor fiber Linn.

Fiber zibethicus Harl. Very Common

Hystrix hudsonicus Brisson. Said to occur
near the mouth of Lake Huron

Mus decumanus Pallas

Mus musculus Linn.

Mus leucopus Rich. Not seen in a living
state. The half eaten carcase is often
met with

Mus _____? Body about 1 3/4 in. long
though the tail is longer than that of the mus=
=culus
and also larger. Color of the tail
reddish brown. Whole animal reddishly
lighter than the house mouse. Should this
be a desirable specimen to see I will either
send a minute description or loan you
the specimen

The M. michiganensis I have not seen
here

Arvicola hirsutus Emmons. We have arvicolae
which agree pretty well with the descrip=
=tions of this. The dentition disagrees
with A. xanthognathus and the
