Dear Robert
The shrew you sent from
Dekalb Co. is a very interesting
species. It comes nearest to
Sorex cinereus of Bachman, from
S. Carolina, but is rather
lighter in its color. It may
be a new species, however. I will
examine it critically in a
few days.

There will be no harm
in preparing an article for
the State Ag. Soc. on rodents
& insectivora; if you do not publish
it in advance of the Patent of-
fice article. This will appear
probably in July or August. If the
Society is satisfied with an article
improved from the Patent office
one, you need not hesitate at all.
You can readily make article 2d,
quite original, with additional
facts to be collected in the Spring
& Summer
