Home - May 8'

I could not visit you now, Bob -
if I would - I had a very bad turn
last night - Something about
the Urinary function - I think -
very painful for a few hours -
but nearly easy now -

Poor Mother and the girls - all
alone, and such [illegible] of men
and visitors -

I have written hasty lines to
both Frank & Bragdon -
I am almost inclined to let them
go their own way - I must either
consider them very weak minded,
or as having no love for me -
no confidence in me[double underline]. It is
an insult to my character, and
my good feeling and good acts
to them. They had not the least
grounds for their folly - I said
nothing to Mr Wright that I
had not previously said to Brag-
=don and I think Frank too

[page turned written on left side margin]
You had letters sent to Cairo - two double ones [page torn]-
=tainly

I could not read the sentence at left border of page.

MosquitoMike

It looks like that sentence on the left border says, "You had letters sent to Cairo - two double ones certainly." ("two" is underlined, and "certainly" is hyphenated "cer==tainly")

2/2/2024 Initial review complete. CE
Action: Changed "visiters" to "visitors" in line 14 and "Bragden" to "Bragdon" in lines 17 and 28/29 based on previous handwriting (o can look like e) and previous letters. Changed "rafts[?}" to [illegible] in line 13 as could not determine word either and for consistency. Added [page torn] designation to line 32 to reflect condition of page, but most likely "cer". Added [double underline] designation in line 22.
