The Grove Jan 12th 1857

Dear Bob.

Maj received your letter of Jan
3rd to day. We were all glad to hear from
you. As we always are.

We had a right pleasant time saturday
evening. All the people we had were our
own family. - that is Uncles Hiram and
Will and their folk. Mr Sherwin and
his wife, and friends; Frank and France
Chandler came out from Chicago with
Charlie, and stayed untill Monday; they
seemed to enjoy themselves.

We have had company all the time
since you left. "Old Mrs Shermon"
and her neice were just here. She
inquired after you, said she "might
be your Aunt yet," "had heard that you
was "Bobing round" at Mrs Updykes
a good deal" Mrs Updyke claimed
that you came to see her as much
as you did "Katie". Mrs Shermon
