The Grove Feb 5th 1858
My dear brother -
Cora and Father I presume have told you all the news, but I will write a few lines first just to let you know I have been thinking about you this morning -
We are having glorious weather extremely cold, but clear and invigor= =ating, if there was only about a foot of snow on the ground we could have some grand rides but unfortunately there is now snow and the roads are terribl however we did go up to The Folley the other day.

and pretty, but she is so sharp I cant endure her", what makes me think of it particularly just now is because I saw at Uncle Hirams the other day, a lady who was fine looking and one would judge from a slight acquaintance – very smart, but she was so sharp and decided that I did not like her at all.
Take care of yourself –
Your loving Sister Alice
