Dear Bob,

I returned last night & hasten
to acknowledge the receipt of your
draft & letter of July 18th. I have
been absent ever since in the White
Mountains, but collected very little.
I hope you have done better at Lake
Superior.

In great haste, but ever,

Won't you come on next winter &
join the circle of great & good men
at the Academy. you can utilize (a
good word I am introducing among the
scientifics) the Institution & us, to great
extent.
