Fixed up in an Easy chair with one foot pillowed in another Aching like thunder - Sunday 1 P.M.

dear Bob

You may guess by the place from which this is dated that I am in a "Phicks" Phancy my Phelinks - a Pheller like me to who under or ordinary circumstances - can with some effort keep still 1/2 one half hour - I have to squirm some at that - to be obliged to sit maybe a week with one leg helevated in the hair to almost the level of the air of my ead - Its discouraging Yesterday I was feeling first rate went hunting walked all day & felt wede the better for it - killed with Jack's help 2 Rabbits Ten [illegible] 8 Birds good to eat Etc

This morning I amused my self by jumping on top the work bench

Nearly 3 feet - 20 times in Lucas river with out doing any hurt - but hopping to make a miss step onto the hearth in the old house which is but 4 inches lower than the floor over went my ankle - Down went I - & "Krack" went some of the "twine" in my unhappy leg - making it probable that I must stay still a short length of period as Frank says - By the way said Frank has been out lately - staid nearly a week - He is gettg awful good - The Roads are perfectly terrible unparalelled kind at least a foot deep - I dont care - I ain't going to travel -

We did not succeed in getting up many apple seedlg's for grafting so I will have leisure enough this winter - I ought to improve it. I mean to study German some & practice writing you well say but I am sellig in a cramped visitings

We expect Charlie every day - But not to stay long - for he has 65000 sedligs (each will cut three) to Graft & I kindr Reckon he will tore to Sthr[?] We have a verry pleasant home circle this (exept your & Charlies abcence) this winter - Mr Chase is very pleasant - & I rather like the teacher Clarke - By the way Carri Clarke has not gone east yet wont go till ed of Jie[?] any way - but the roads are so bad they will hardly come out. We have some trouble about mony nobody pays but we follow suit & so get along pretty well - I like your Pat office article very well - could criticise it but know that it is better by far than 99 out of 100 of the papers that are praised more than yours will be. I am very sorry about the plates - they make it more interesting to ordinary Readers - & call attention to it now

Our Great Strawberry man Dr Rice has had bad luck with his plants & we may have the same with our debt against him, as he tries to throw blam on the packing etc I have some plants like crysanthemums Violets etc flowering now in my room - I am glad to hear that you attend the Gymnasium nothing better for mind or body Mr Clarke says that he has [illegible] at Dr Andrews wishes to be remembered to you. & wants you to hear Geo Rev Geo W Basset Read congregational church Bro ASKennicott
