Dear Kennicott!
Your very kind letter and the Hempter & Orthoptera have come to hand, and I assure you both gave me much pleasure.
The lot from Dr Hagen put me in extasies; I can now tell, 'what is what'. Come here as soon as you can and if I do not assist you as much as you desire, it will not be my fault. Thank you for the kind offer to stay with you, I cannot come to Washington very soon, but when I do so, it shall be my greatest pleasure to stop with you.
I am very happy to learn that the Univers =ity of Michigan is liberal, I hope it will afford you substantial aid!
I will go to work and get out a lot of the species on hand in the three Orders and hope I can furnish you with all you desire.
