I write for Father His eye is so much better that he is determined to start tomorrow anyway
& leave Chicago Wednesday or Thursday at latest - B. Will go to "Willards Hotel" No letters from you scince last Thursday - Inclosed is Gov Bissells letter - considered very favorable - Rained last night - no snow yet.

We had quite a merry Christmas I felt so well that I ran round & kicked up so much, that my ankle is quite lame & some in [illegible] It proves that I am spoiled for a runner for "one while" if not longer - & what "(little)" misfortune could come upon me - but I dont know but it may prove a blessing _ it would if I could get up an appetite for study -

I have been translating some German stories this month - [illegible] I am to have Gebruder Grimm complete in the original German Links the colt may now be called broken in - a good horse too but lazy The winter is so open that I hope to get up the apple seedlings - I have not got any winter work done yet -
