Dear Sir,
Your favor of 27th,, Ulto,,, announcing the safe arrival of your party at Red River came duly to hand, and upon receipt of the Kreosote I shall medicate the Alcohol as you direct.
The Can of Alcohol you left here to be applied to the preservation of Fish at this place I will not forget. & if I can get Morrison to take time enough to skin a few specimens I will see to their being put in better spirits than they at present dream of, and the necessary quantity of their native element will be mixed with the alcohol.

I hope yourself and fellow travellers may have a pleasant time of it towards your several destinations & that your reunion with your respective families may prove all you can desire
I shall look forward with pleasure to the prospect of hearing from you during the winter and make bold to suggest that any chance paper you may come across with any thing extra in the way of news would be a welcome visiter if you would pop it into the Post Office to my address.
