The Grove Tuesday Oct 7th

Dear Maj

Your letter and Mollie's of last Sunday to Mother came to day.

I cant say I see anything specially promising in this misery journey - That's no place for young girls. - I trust finally they'll not go.

If they are still bent on Misery we shall expect at least to see them en route, and will send to Winetka on Saturday.

We would all be very glad to see Mr Seley - but why can he not come with you and the girls? If he comes later you will of course try and learn on

what train he will come down so that we can send to Desplaines for him.

Several orders and business letters came to day - Peterson of Chi orders 250 tulips - Bruno has sent them from the lot last dug below old orchard - what shall they be charged at.

An Iowa man (a new man) asks for 1000 White Dutch Currants 2 years old a $22,50. That being the price proposed by father he says.

J Cunningham Prairie City countermands his order and sends another which is so hazy and mixed that Panx has returned it asking him to be mor[e?]

explicit.

J.A. Kimberly of Neenah Wis. wants to know prices of Lawton Blackberries, & Strawberries and asks if we have "any choice dwarf Bartlett Pears that have borne and are not too large to transplant." asks for answer by return mail - I dont like to reply but perhaps you can write from Milwaukee

Jem has gone to Eau Claire - Frank will get an extension of his leave to Oct 30th. Cora not as well - The Baby better - Mother tired and worn; the rest well.

The Jem said you'd noot go Sat urday or I should have seen you in Chi.

Regards to the Seleys and Cushings Tell Mollie I say if she

will come here instead of going to Misery I'll never tease her again

Yours Bob.

Mother says you mention that perhaps Mollie and Nellie Seley may stay here this winter - That would be the most sensible and agreeable plan to all I should think. You know how pleasant it would be for us all to have the girls here and can tell 'em this better than I could. For my part I'll not keep any snakes in the house and will never let Jack kill their cats while they are looking on.

I enclose a catalogue in case you wish to send it to the Neenah man
