Friend Kennicott:

When I recd. the box of plants that you had the kindness
to send, I expected daily to come to Washington - now
[illegible] indefinitely postponed on acct. of serious
illness of my Mrs. Bowen, - now better - I may
come next week. - I write to say that the plants are
very nearly all growing very nicely - and also to say
that I am very obliged, - always glad to hear from
you, - box of skins not[underlined] yet recd.
