Horticulturalist We hav but little fruit here last year -- although we had a very fair show, at our County fair -- Every thing look promising for the coming season. Fruit trees generally are well filled with fruit bud. Peaches will fail as usual. I had one specimen of the "St Martin's Quetsche" Plum Eaten Oct 8th very fine though I had no other to compare with it. I suppose you have not got any of the trees yet -- It is rather dull times here pomologically since Phoenix has gone then I get a line from him once in a while which does me good When we get a Rail Road here to our place I hope to have a chance to come & see some of your Ill [illegible] men -- I shall make calculations to get to Burlington next September I have bothered you considerable to answer my inquiries & I hope sometime to repay you some way -- Yet if I am too obtrusive [underline Yet thru obtrusive] you must tell me --- [illegible] "The Horticultural Review" be desirable while I have "The Country Gentleman" "Prairie Farmer" & "Horticulturist" & I have never seen it tho I sent for some specimen [illegible] but never got them Plenty of snow here now The lowest the thermometer has been, was on the 23 Jany - 13[degree symbol} below Zero -- Answer as soon as convenient for you and oblige Yours very Truly [illegible] L Tubbs.
