October 5th 1850 John A. Kennicott, Esq West Northfield - D. S. I have the pleasure to acknowledge the receipt of a Box containing some fine specimens of bulbs, also yours of 1st Inst making reference to the box received by Belief You will please accept the thanks of our house for you kindness, especially our Wilson. Channels and Dubois, who will exercise the thin network sill in bringing to a full developement , the beautily attributed to each variety. In thanking you I most heartily join, but cannot claim, a show for cultivation, being an unfortunate Unit [unit is underlined] I think the chances for getting any thing out of Quiltback are exceedingly poor, and not improving. he has quit busnips,, is buying grain for other parties, and is smart hopefully ruined ------- Yours Reskly R. h.
