[Illegible] 4th 1858

Dear Sir

Your favour of recent date
did not reach me till yesterday
I am sorry to say it finds me
out of funds but I have a promise
of one hundred dollars this month
and if I get it will send you
the amount due at once

You should have
been paid long since had not this
been to me a season of disappointm
ent
in every respect out of over one
hundred ones of grain sowed I have
not gathered a bushel

I had fully
intended to have been at your place
this fall (Just [part?]) and have
seen your nursery but have
at present nothing to do with
hope to be better off on other
year with much respect

Yours J Gillott
