Princeton April 28, 1854 ? & I. A. Kennicott Dear friend Your of 25th received we think is best to defer getting anything from you until fall, as we have much planting to do. We have shipped off some 17,000 Apple trees this spring - mostly sold on time have had much hindrance and trouble from bad roads - bad weather ?? Retail trade in fruit trees has been very light - we have a large stock of big [big is underlined] trees which we know not what to do with. The demand for evergreens has been better thank for anything else. Much damage has been done here by the frost throwing out small trees & plants - an uncommon occurrance - and most of our grapevines have been made unfit for sale in not spoiled by injury to their roots from the wetings of the soil and frequent

freexing and thawing. Money very scarce we can hardly get enough to make matters slide. Yours truly A Bryant [& Gon]
