William Thorpe was a Brabralung man who came from around Bairnsdale. He married Lilian Wilson and had a farm at Lakes Entrance where he grew beans, potatoes and had an orchard. Here he raised a family, including Harry Thorpe, who joined the army during WW1 and lost his life in Lihons Wood, France.
