Some months ago I wrote to you in
reference to some further information I
had obtained about the class + totem system
of the Waradhuri and have not heard
any reply as to what you thought of it

I am also uncertain as to whether you
received my letter. Briefly this information
was that the two primary classes were
Mukulu=Ipai-Kumbo
Budthurung=Murri-Kubbi

The former embraced everything on the
universe connected with dry and the latter
everything connected with wet - thus Mallee

water were Mukula as also were birds
and animals, while those whose habitat
was in the vicinity of water were
Budthurung.

The Ipai totems were yƫnghi (Mallee hen
gunarr (padymelon) willi (oppossum)
Kumbu were Yunghi Mallee hen)
Uroine (Emu) Willi (oppossum)
Murri totems were Murri (Red Kangaroo)
Budthurung (Brown Duck) gurung ([snake - crossed out] Bandicoot) and
