[The Dieri - crossed out] In the Dieri's Diagram
[The man (1) and the - crossed out]
(4) and (6) and (3) and (5) [are] may be either own or tribal
brother and sister, and in this tribe there is a
reciprocal "betrothal" - for instance 4 + 6 and 3 and 5
were betrothed by their mothers when infants.
Their children the girl (2) + her brother (not shown on diagram)
and (7) and her brotherl as [in the relation of- crossed out] "Karni
mara" - which may be translated as "not marrigable"
But their children are "noa-mara" that is
marrigable - therefore (1) may marry (8) (being betrothed to
each other probably as children) - and their respective
brothers + sisters (own and tribal) are in the
same conditions.

A glance shows that the Dieri marriage
rule, which is provided for by terms of
relationship, is presently that which the
Wiradjuri subclasses + their rules
provide for automatically.

Suppose now that I were questioning [(1) - crossed out] the
man Kubbi (1) in the Wiradjuri diagram. I should write down the
name of his mother, who would be Matha (2) -
then of he mother Kubbitha (3) - then of Ipai (4)
the mother of (3). These I should want to
know whether (5) was in fact the own or tribal brother
of (3) - and (6) the own or tribal sister of (4)

Thus taking their daughter (7) Butha
I should want to know whether [the girl - crossed out]
[woman - crossed out] her daughter the woman
Ipatha (8) - was - or would be properly
the wife of my informant Kubbi (1).
