Message Sticks
-----------------------------

Have never been used
by the Dieri, mostly all their messages
are verbal, except for initiating young men,
or to call together a Pinya as described before.

Marriage Rule:
------------------------
Mr. Gason is right
when he says : the Diery tribe is divided
into five local groups viz: Pando pirna
Kuramina
Kopperamana
Kilalpanina
Katitandra

All these groups are allowed to intermarry
and their [sic] is no restriction that a Pando pirna
man may not marry a woman of his own locality
also the other groups. The only restriction
among them is, not to marry a woman
of his or hers own Mordu. If a man
is to marry a woman from another group,
he is compelled to exchange a young woman
of his own group, but not so in his own
locality where he may marry one whitout [sic]
paying for; although the principal Rule
is, to give a sister or other relative in exchange
but this Rule will not very strictly be
enforced.
