Headmen

Tongaranka
The office of Headman is hereditary in the Tongaranka tribe but
it did not follow that he was in the direct line of descent.
Merit as a warrior, orator or medicine man had
nothing to do with it. The present Headman [Sampson - crossed out] (1884)
